Velkommen til Norge på bautec 2020

Norway is the first partner country of bautec – Focus on the topics of sustainable and intelligent building, timber construction and BIM

The tallest timber building and longest road tunnel in the world, remarkable architecture such as the Oslo Opera House, or Europe’s first underwater restaurant, a leader in Europe in the implementation of building information modelling (BIM) and the digitalisation of building sites. Norway has repeatedly demonstrated that highly ambitious objectives can be met. And the next major objective is to make all construction sites virtually emissions-free by 2025

Norway will be the first partner country of bautec, where it will be represented in the halls on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 18 to 21 February 2020 by companies specialising in sustainable and intelligent building, timber construction and BIM. The combined Norwegian stand at bautec 2020 is a joint project involving the Norwegian embassy in Berlin, Innovation Norway and the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce.

Petter Ølberg, the Norwegian ambassador to Berlin, explains: “Whether it is the opera house in Oslo, an underwater restaurant or the tallest timber building in the world, Norway is constantly attracting attention with its spectacular buildings. We are using bautec 2020 to show that buildings can also help in achieving climate objectives, because we in Norway can not only build in an attractive way but also sustainably, for example using timber as a renewable raw material, and with emissions-free construction sites. As the first partner country at this trade show in Berlin we are delighted to have an opportunity to show how these important objectives can be attained.”

Manuel Kliese, general manager D-A-CH for the Norwegian economic promotion agency Innovation Norway, adds: “In the field of e-mobility Norway has already shown that it is an outstanding pilot market for innovative solutions. Now the construction industry is following suit. Norway is very much at the forefront in Europe in areas such as BIM (building information modelling) and the digitalisation of construction sites. It should also be mentioned that very exacting requirements apply in Norway to ensuring that construction sites are emissions-free. All these factors make the country and its companies of the greatest interest as business partners for the construction sites of the future.”

Michael Kern, general manager of the German-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce: “Norway’s status as the partner country at bautec is a unique opportunity for Norwegian construction companies to introduce themselves to industry representatives at an important international trade fair. With its focus on digitalisation and energy efficiency, this fair is particularly relevant for Norwegian participants and for the developments that we are currently seeing in the construction sector in Norway.”
