Component-driven demolition concepts with bauteilnetz Deutschland
Berlin, 19 February 2020
The nationwide cooperative project bauteilnetz Deutschland has been set up to promote the re-use of good, used building components. This helps to reduce waste as well as cutting CO2 emissions, thereby helping to protect the climate. In recent years this association has created an online platform, a catalogue of components and nine storage or exchange sites for used building components. It is no longer the case that windows, doors or radiators obtained as a result of demolition or conversion work end up as refuse, but are stored until a user can be found. The association provides advice for public sector sponsors, municipalities, architects and construction groups about ways of developing and implementing component-driven demolition concepts. This is one way in which recycling management in the building sector can be improved.
