Submissions invited for the German Engineers’ Building Prize 2020

Berlin, 19 February 2020

State Secretary Anne Katrin Bohle and Hans-Ullrich Kammeyer, President of the Bundesingenieurkammer (German Engineering Association), called upon the building engineers at bautec to submit their projects for the German Engineers’ Building Prize 2020. “The German engineering sector is the embodiment of innovation”, according to Anne Katrin Bohle. She pointed out that quite a few architectural innovations have only been possible because of outstanding engineering achievements. She emphasised that bautec is “THE innovation fair for you and your capabilities” and as the ideal venue for inviting submissions for this prize.

Hans-Ullrich Kammeyer called upon building engineers to make their achievements more publicly conspicuous, thereby encouraging young people to also seek careers in the building industry. Construction, innovation, energy efficiency and sustainability are the jury’s criteria, explained Petra Wesseler, President of the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning. The deadline for submissions is 28 April 2020. The jury will announce its decision in August 2020, and the presentations will take place in Berlin at the end of November 2020. The winners will receive a cash prize and a certificate.
