Federal Minister Horst Seehofer opens bautec
Berlin, 19. February 2020
On Tuesday, 18 February 2020, addressing trade visitors, exhibitors and the press, Horst Seehofer, Federal Minister of the Interior, Building and Community, opened bautec 2020. ”The construction industry is our biggest asset, it is THE driving force of the economy in Germany“, the minister said, and described it as one of the Federal Republic’s key industries. He stressed the efforts being made by policymakers to create more housing, including the billions invested by the federal government in subsidised housing. He described the government’s house purchase scheme for families as a success, which he said was leading to a rise in the share of house ownership in the Federal Republic. Making energy-efficient refurbishment a key part of the government’s climate package guaranteed support for renovation measures, he said. Enshrining these policy measures for the future would provide economic certainty for the skilled trades. “We need you,” said Seehofer, appealing to the representatives of the building industry. ”Without your ideas and innovations the country cannot take positive steps going forward.“ After his speech he cut the ribbon on the stand of the partner country Norway, thus symbolically opening bautec.
