Wind power and photovoltaics are indispensable for supplying carbon-neutral energy
Berlin, 21. February 2020
On the Thursday of bautec at the Building Practice Centre Sanitation-Heating-Air Con Prof. Dr. Jan Mugele provided information on the current status of the energy transition where technical building installations are concerned. Mugele lectures on Technical Building Installations at Berliner Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht (HWR). In his view a high degree of renewable energy consumption is necessary in buildings in order to make it at all possible to meet climate targets. However, sales of conversion systems for utilising renewable energy in buildings were currently too slow, he said. On the one hand making use of local, decentralised energy systems could significantly accelerate the installation of photovoltaics on buildings. On the other, it was necessary to build wind and solar farms in significantly higher numbers at national level to ensure carbon-neutral energy supplies. If buildings were properly equipped they could play an important role in coupling the energy, heat distribution and transport sectors, he said.
